| About Us .
. .
How do you describe something not of this earth? Our lives together touch heaven and earth at the same time. Still, we will try to tell you a little about us . . . |
|||
| Who We Are We are a small group of about 20 adults and about 20 children, most of whom live together in a neighborhood, meeting together in a very simple way in our homes. We seek to know Jesus better, and enter into the wonderful relationship that He has with His Father. All that we do centers on knowing Him better and enjoying His presence among us. We do not have a written statement of beliefs, although you will find little that strays from the central historical beliefs of the larger Christian family. At the same time, you will witness among us little regard for the traditions of men. Our meetings are "open" and participatory, with everyone contributing to the meetings as they feel led. We have no special buildings and no pastor or staff. What we do have is a common passion to know the Lord and to love each other as the family of God that we are.
In 1997 a church planter named Gene Edwards started a home church in Lithia Springs, Georgia. The group that began here was the remnant of an earlier house church that he planted in December of 1989. For the next three years, Gene ministered to the church in Lithia Springs as the Lord built her up, and new brothers and sisters were added while others moved on. In January of 2000, following the pattern of Paul in the New Testament, Gene Edwards departed Atlanta and moved to Florida to plant a new house church in Jacksonville. Since that time our church has also received help from time to time from Tim Richey, one of the men that Gene worked with in Jacksonville.
"I have seen HER in joy, I have seen HER in sorrow . . . yet she lifts her head high and bears witness to the One who longs, cares, and draws Her back to Himself. It does not matter to Him what she thinks she looks like . . . in His eyes He only beholds a holy, beautiful bride . . . radiant and glorious." --Judi N. "To be occupied with Him in this way changes how I see everything. It seems I just see different facets of the Lord I've always known; but He never ceases to surprise me, and I continue to stand amazed in seeing the way He works things out that are impossible for us in our own strength. I see life more whole from the One who is Life Himself!" --Anita D.
"Settling here in Lithia Springs has been difficult, but deep in me is "for Your glory, Lord." Seeing the church is most fulfilling. Nothing else satisfies-- 'what we do in life echoes in eternity.'" --Mike N.
